About Me

I'm Alek. I like writing, games, technology and consumer electronics, anime, graphic novels, science fiction, typography, and I have way too much free time on my hands. I write a lot, including game journalism, serials, short pieces, and novels. I've written a few novels but they need some serious work to even be remotely presentable, and I'm constantly trying to improve.

As far as careers go, I have multiple interests. I would love to be a professional journalist in gaming or consumer electronics, maybe a television writer, perhaps a novelist (though that's not very realistic to expect to make a livable income on), or, if I somehow miraculously improve at it, a logo designer. I'm even tempted to look into electronic music, since I really love it a lot! Kind of overwhelmed on where to start for that, though.

On a positive note, I was somehow long-winded enough to win National Novel Writing Month in 2011, and I'm participating this year as well. You can read the novel here, if you're painfully bored or just want to humor me or something.

I also enjoy Japanese and Korean pop music, electronic music, Homestuck, Xenosaga, Phantasy Star Online/Universe, One Piece, and Tron.

I have really amazing friends and a wonderful family. I generally have a great life and I'm really grateful for it. This blog is mostly happy/silly stuff, reblogs of things I like, live-blogging TV shows, movies, and games, and the occasional music track post of what I'm currently listening to.

My most recent writing project is a long-running serialized science-fiction political thriller story called Rapturia, which I update periodically. All the chapters are free to read! Thanks for taking the time to read this awful wall of text. You're the best!

Denying a sick person medicine: totally within God’s will.

This is disgusting and that doctor should be investigated by the health board in that state and have their license revoked immediately.

Patients with HIV cannot afford to miss doses of their medication because it risks the virus becoming resistant to it if they do. It is imperative that HIV positive patients take their medications at specified times every day. This doctor was grossly negligent and discriminatory and their actions could have caused serious health problems with this patient.

And the nurses who allowed this to happen should also be investigated. Someone should have reported this doctor and I wouldn’t be surprised if this kind of behavior has happened before with that particular doctor.

Absolutely disgusting.
